Independence Day, July 4, is broadly celebrated here in the US, and what better time to consider where you stand with respect to your retirement prospects. Take some quiet time this long weekend to pull together your entire retirement portfolio. Think about it as a balance sheet and income statement for yourself. What are your assets? What are your liabilities? What does/can your monthly income and expenses look like given that? Once you have done this, you can project how it might look in different scenarios, increased savings, market downturns, etc. I encourage everyone to do it.
